Phenix City police officer found dead





Phenix City, AL A Phenix City police officer has been found dead in her Lee County home, according to authorities. The body of Lieutenant Frankie Deer,40, was discovered Sunday around 3:40 p.m.
In a press release, the Lee County coroner stated, a friend and fellow officer found Deer in the bedroom of her Salem, Alabama home.
Reports indicate she had recently complained of being ill, but no foul play is suspected.
Deer, a veteran with the Phenix City Police Department, worked the night before she was found dead and was scheduled to report for work Sunday.
The body has been sent to the state crime lab to determine the cause of death. The Lee County Sheriff's Department and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences are also investigating.
She leaves behind a young daughter.
The Phenix City Police Department sent a release saying, "Lt. Deer had proven herself to be a valuable asset to the police department in any capacity she was assigned.  Her absence is being sorely felt by the members of the department and the department expresses its deepest sympathy to the family of Lieutenant Deer."
