These 20 live giant millipedes were what a federal agent at a San Francisco airport discovered upon opening a large package from Germany that was labeled “toy car model."
The foot-long arthropods were intercepted at the airport’s mail facility after the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agricultural specialist noticed an anomaly in the box while it went through an x-ray machine, the agency said.
It’s actually legal to bring such exotic creatures into the U.S., but a permit is required. In this case however, the package did not have the required permit.

HOUSTON, DALE COUNTY - SCAM ALERT

We are seeing an increase in “Cold Calls” from scammers attempting to get information from individuals.  The scam is relatively the same, you get a call, they tell you your card has been compromised.

From there they will transfer you to “security” or ask you to “verify information.”  Remind folks NEVER to give out any information to someone that calls them.  If they get one of these calls and want to check on their cards, simply hang up, call the number on the back of their credit/debit cards and speak directly with the company who issued it.

The scammers are using ghost dialers and their calls will appear to be an 800 number or even a local exchange number.

Dothan Police Department arrested William Roberson, on charges of Animal Cruelty Placing Live Animal in freezer

Press Release
August 28, 2014

On August 22, 2014 the Dothan Police Department arrested William Roberson, on charges of Animal Cruelty. The arrest followed an investigation of allegations that a live animal was placed in a storage freezer at the Dothan Animal Shelter.  Roberson is presumed innocent until proven guilty and if found guilty in a court of law, the charge of Animal Cruelty is a misdemeanor offense which is punishable by fines and up to one year of jail time.

After a thorough investigation by the Internal Affairs Division, it was determined that Roberson placed what he thought to be a deceased animal into the freezer, yet it was later determined that the animal was unconscious and appeared deceased. There was actually one live but unconscious animal in a cage and one deceased animal in a different cage in the same room but Roberson overlooked the deceased animal.

On August 26, 2014 Roberson attended a determination hearing during which these facts were revealed. The case was presented as a violation of City of Dothan personnel rules and regulations regarding misconduct, a major offense. The recommendation of the Internal Affairs Division was in compliance with disciplinary actions of the City of Dothan rules and regulations.  Internal Affairs Investigators say that as with any personnel matter the current disposition of the case regarding disciplinary actions is confidential.

In a monumental decision, a federal judge has struck down the 10-day waiting period to purchase firearms in California.

Gavel
In a monumental decisiona federal judge has struck down the 10-day waiting period to purchase firearms in California.
Challenged by gun owners Jeffrey Silverster and Brandon Combs with the support of The CalGuns Foundation and the Second Amendment Foundation, the laws were struck down by Federal Eastern District of California Senior Judge Anthony W. Ishii, a Clinton era appointee.
In the ruling, Ishii found that “the 10-day waiting periods of Penal Code [sections 26815(a) and 27540(a)] violate the Second Amendment” and that it further “burdens the Second Amendment rights of the Plaintiffs.”
Under Ishii’s order, the California Department of Justice (DOJ) is required to change its systems to accommodate same day purchases of firearms for buyers who pass a background check and possess a California license to carry a handgun, or who hold a “Certificate of Eligibility” issued by the DOJ and already possess at least one firearm known to the state.
Second Amendment Foundation founder and trailblazer for gun rights Alan Gotleib said,
“This ruling clearly addressed the issue we put before the court. We are naturally delighted with the outcome.

Fellow plaintiff Brandon Combs, Executive Director of The CalGuns Foundation said,
“California gun owners are not second-class citizens and the Second Amendment doesn’t protect second class rights. This decision is an important step towards restoring fundamental individual liberties in the Golden State.
This victory provides a strong foundation from which other irrational and unconstitutional gun control laws will be challenged. We look forward to doing just that.”

Amaya allegedly forced his way into the store as his victim tried to lock the doors, then dragged her by the hair toward the back, where he attacked her.
