Police searching for teens who took school bus on a joyride

Police say two juveniles between the ages of 12 and 14 years old hopped in Muscogee County school bus 675 and went on what police call a short joyride that ended in crash that caused quite a mess.
"All of a sudden we heard this big boom sound it actually sounded like a train dragging something," Patricia Williams said.
Williams couldn't have been further from the truth. What she heard just after 9 pm Thursday night was the sound of the school bus crashing into not just her son's truck and daughter's SUV.
Several witness say that two juveniles between 12 and 14 years old were seen running from the bus after it smashed into the cars.
Interim Director of Transportation Frank Brown says the suspects possibly gained access to the Roberts Center lot through the main entrance gate on Shepard Drive.
"We have been moving portables from the Roberts Center and one of the gates was unlocked, usually those gates are pad-locked," Brown said.
It happened at the corner of Murray and 18^th Street off Shepard Drive. The suspects got only three blocks before they slammed into Williams' parked car causing a ripple effect with the three other vehicles.
Brown says the keys are typically safely stored inside the buses as standard operating procedure.  However, the suspects were able to locate the keys and drove the bus right through the gate.
While Williams is thankful that no one was hurt in this accident she says the school district should be held responsible.
"I feel like if the school hadn't been negligent with allowing the bus to be occupied still with the keys in there this would have never happened," Williams said.
The police are looking for two juveniles again between the ages of 12 and 14. The bus that they took from the Roberts Center had a surveillance camera. That video has been sent out of town for reformatting with the hope that the two kid's faces will be front and center.
