Troy Emergency Responders were dispatched to 436 Elm St. around 3pm. The fire started on the bottom level of the home which is a duplex. The home was occupied by Tasha Davis, and three of her children and Shamyer Suddith, her mother.
Davis said she heard a pop, then one of her children came running through the house yelling “fire, fire.” The fire is believed to have started in her son’s bedroom.  Davis, her mother and children escaped through the back of the residence, near the flames.
The residence was fully engulfed by 4:15pm and the firefighters were working hard to extinguish the flames in order to keep them from spreading to the trees and nearby structures.
