Officials investigate Birmingham church fire

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Authorities are investigating a fire that broke out in a Birmingham church.
Firefighters were called to the blaze at First African Missionary Baptist Church in east Birmingham about 8 a.m. Sunday. Battalion Chief C.W. Mardis with the Birmingham Fire Department says about 20 percent of the church was damaged by the fire and there is smoke damage throughout the building.
Mardis said the fire is believed to be an accident but it is still under investigation.
No injuries were reported
