Gees Bend ferry project making progress

Associated Press
CAMDEN, Ala. (AP) — Officials say a $1.4 million upgrade of the Gees Bend Ferry is more than halfway finished.
The project includes the expansion of the terminal in Camden and the construction of a new terminal in Gees Bend. The ferry takes people and cars across the Alabama River between the two communities.
County Commissioner Mark Curl says the ferry has become a tourist attraction. Curl says people from every state in the union and several countries have come to the county just to ride the ferry.
He says the project is expected to be finished in November.
