An Albany police officer was killed when her cruiser crashed into another police car during a chase and burst into flames







ALBANY, Ga. (AP) - An Albany police officer was killed when her cruiser crashed into a tree during a chase and burst into flames.

Police officials said Terry Fleming died Friday at age 36. Police Chief John Proctor said the officer leaves behind her husband of 6 months and three children.

Two 22-year-old men, Kentrell Butler and Wesley Wilkerson, have been charged with felony murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault and firearms offenses. It was not clear whether they had attorneys.

Authorities said police were chasing two men suspected of robbing Consolidated Finance Co. on Friday afternoon. Fleming's car collided with another cruiser driven by Officer Gregory Batson. Fleming was killed in the wreck. Batson was injured.

The Albany Herald reports that the suspects were arrested when the Chevrolet Tahoe they were driving flipped.
