Hundreds rally against illegal immigrant crackdown

Associated Press
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Opponents of Alabama's tough new crackdown on illegal immigrants are speaking out in Huntsville.
A few hundred people gathered in a downtown park Sunday night for an interfaith prayer rally against the law.
Many participants wore white and carried candles; some pastors wore clerical garb.
The event drew to an early close when a thunderstorm popped up. But rally organizer Al Garrett says he's glad to see faith groups leading opposition to the law.
Supporters of the law say it's needed to limit the number of illegal immigrants living in Alabama. Critics including Immigrant support groups and faith-based workers sued last week to overturn the law.
