WALMART BOMB THREAT Dothan Police needs your help

On December 2, 2011 the Dothan Police Department responded to a bomb threat at Wal-Mart (north side location) after employees found a note in the women’s bathroom that stated there was a bomb in the store. As a precaution, Wal-Mart was temporarily evacuated while bomb technicians did a sweep of the store. The store was re-opened for business after a completed search revealed no device. Investigators say the case will remain open as they attempt to identify the suspect responsible for leaving the note. Police are asking anyone with information about the case or identity of the suspect to call the Dothan Police Department or CrimeStoppers 334-793-7000.

NOVEMBER 28, 2011 –    MONDAY: 
@ 12:31 pm. Harassing Communications. Westview Dr.  Victim (Nakita M. McCray) stated suspect (Tansey Blanks) called her cell phone, using obscene language and threatening bodily harm. 

@ 2:27 pm. Failure of Sex Offender to Verify Place of Residence. N. Union Ave. Suspect (Andra L. Crittendon) gave officer false information on his current living address.  

@ 3:07 pm. Duty Upon Striking an Unoccupied Vehicle. Painter Ave. Victim (David A. Smith) stated an unknown suspect backed into his rental vehicle and left without reporting the incident. 

@ 4:05 pm. Theft of Property 2nd/Criminal Trespass 3rd.  Martin Luther King Ave. Victim (Lonnie W. Webb) stated an unknown suspect removed his air unit and copper wiring from his residence while he was out of town.

Dothan Police Department responded to a theft call in the 1000 block of South Bell Street.

On November 28, 2011 the Dothan Police Department responded to a theft call in the 1000 block of South Bell Street. Upon arrival, the victim told police an inoperable vehicle had been stolen from his yard. A witness called the victim and stated she saw the vehicle being towed from the residence and was able to identify the suspect. Police were able to locate the suspect who was interviewed and subsequently charged with the crime. 

·        Tony Mobley, black male, 53 years of age, of Springfield Lane was arrested and charged with First Degree Theft of Property with a $5,000 bond.

Columbus Fire responds to house fire at 2206 Winchester

Neighbors stated they noticed smoke coming our of the vents in the roof of the home and noticed there was something wrong and notified the home owner and noticed that the fire was in the wall around the chimney and notified 911. Fire units responded very promptly and was able to maintain the fire.

Columbus Police are investigating a possible murder and suicide at Huckleberry Hills Apartments

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus Police are investigating a possible murder and suicide at Huckleberry Hills Apartments.
Police tell us officers were conducting a welfare check around 7 o'clock Saturday evening on Saint Mary's Road when they discovered two bodies inside one of the apartments.
We're told 21-year-old Ruby Grant and her husband 27-year-old Freddie Grant were found dead from gunshot wounds inside their apartment. The investigation reveals Ruby was shot before Freddie turned the gun on himself.
Police say they are investigating this as a murder/suicide, and the case is not closed.

SNOW ADVISERY FOR ALABAMA

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Forecasters say the first snow of the season is possible Monday afternoon and Monday night in several parts of Alabama.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a winter weather advisory for much of central and northern Alabama, including the cities of Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Gadsden, Hamilton, Jasper and Anniston.
The advisory, which stretches from the west edge of the state to the Alabama-Georgia line, will be in effect from Monday afternoon through early Tuesday morning.
A mix of rain and snow is possible beginning Monday afternoon. Forecasters say rain will change over to snow during the night, and accumulations of up to two inches are possible in some spots.
The weather service says the greatest accumulations are expected to be in the northwest part of central Alabama.

Thirsty Thief breaks into Dollar General to quench his thirst !

COLUMBUS, GA - An unlikely set of items was stolen from the Dollar General on Amber Dr. Saturday morning.
An Officer responded to a call of an open door or window at the business.
When he got there, he met with an employee who found the front door busted in.
The officer cleared the building and reviewed security footage with the employee.
They saw a black male about 6’ with a white t-shirt over his head break the door with a rock. They then saw him enter the business and steal 2 packs of Open Trail’s men’s socks and a gallon of Hawaiian Punch, valued at $18.35.
The socks and punch were found on the sidewalk outside the store and were returned.

Arrmed Robbery Reagions Bank - MAN CAPTURED !

On November 25, 2011 the Dothan Police Department responded to an armed robbery in progress at Regions Bank (4203 Ross Clark Circle) at 10:30 p.m. The victim told the 911 operator he was attempting to make a cash drop from a local business when he was tackled by the suspect who snatched the money bag and fled on foot. As the call was being broadcast, an alert patrolman in the vicinity saw the suspect running and immediately pursued him taking him into custody. Police recovered the cash bag and arrested the suspect for robbery. 

·        Roderick Jernigan, black male, 27 years of age, of Chickasaw Street was arrested and charged with Third Degree Robbery with bond being established later today.

Dothan Police Department responded to an internal theft call at Kmart (2185 Reeves Street)

On November 26, 2011 the Dothan Police Department responded to an internal theft call at Kmart (2185 Reeves Street). Upon arrival, police spoke with a Kmart security officer who advised an internal investigation of an assistant manager, Darlene Leonard, had been started earlier this month due to suspicion of theft from the business. Between the dates of 11-19-2011 and 11-25-2011 Leonard used .75 cent price tags to purchase items of much higher value. Leonard was also observed taking a Kmart bag containing clothing from the store without paying. Investigators responded to collect the evidence against Leonard who was then arrested and charged with Theft of Property second degree.

·        Darlene Leonard, black female, 50 years of age, of Ozark, Alabama was arrested and charged with Second Degree Theft of Property with bond being established later today.

Dothan Police Department responded to a critical assault at Houligans Lounge

On November 24, 2011 the Dothan Police Department responded to a critical assault at Houligans Lounge (3611 Montgomery Highway). Upon arrival, police learned a physical altercation between the victim and suspect had occurred in the parking lot during which the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times causing serious injury. The victim was transported to a local hospital and the suspect was taken into custody.

·        Shane Robert Teeter, white male, 33 years of age, of Coffee Springs, Alabama was arrested and charged with First Degree Assault with a $60,000 bond.
