A cautionary story for anyone planning on grilling this summer: A Seattle-area woman nearly died after she accidentally swallowed a bristle from a brush used to clean a grill.
She consumed the tiny piece of metal while eating grilled chicken at a family barbecue. It punctured her intestine and she developed a severe post-surgery infection.
Similar injuries have prompted the CDC to caution cooks about the use of wire brushes.
